“Shun-ju” (Spring and Autumn)
Cherry blossoms have long been a symbol of the Japanese sense of beauty and of the view of life and death, so much so that in Japan the word ‘flower’ first refers to cherry blossoms. Maple leaves, which turn bright red in autumn, have also been loved as much as cherry blossoms in spring. The spring and autumn pattern, which brings the different seasons together, can be used throughout the year and represents a richly changing landscape.
